Why Protein Processors Are Reconsidering Latex Gloves

    Tue, Jun 30, 26

For decades, household rubber latex gloves have been used across food processing, commercial cleaning, industrial workplaces, and households. While the applications have evolved, the gloves themselves have changed very little. Most textured latex gloves are still manufactured as left/right hand-specific products, creating unnecessary waste. In processing environments, this has caused inventory and labour inefficiencies when gloves need to be replaced.

At the same time, businesses are under increasing pressure to improve productivity, strengthen food safety, and minimise waste. Ongoing geopolitical instability, rising raw material costs, freight volatility, and supply-chain disruption are also encouraging organisations to reassess glove selection and focus more closely on total glove cost and operational efficiencies.

Eagle Protect's new ambidextrous 14-20 Double Diamond Latex Glove has been developed to address these challenges.

While Eagle’s existing Heavy Duty latex gloves remain an option for general industrial, cleaning, food handling and medical applications, the new Eagle 14-20 Double Diamond has been manufactured to replace incumbent textured latex gloves that are manufactured as left/right hand specific. The 14-20 ambidextrous design reduces glove waste by allowing single glove replacement and eliminates the need to sort, pair, or roll gloves, improving efficiency across processing floors.

Built on the thicker latex glove category widely used by poultry processors in Australia and the United States, the ambidextrous Eagle 14-20 Double Diamond Latex Glove is designed for demanding protein processing environments, while also being suited to commercial cleaning, food handling, industrial applications, and heavy household use where extra grip is required.

    Key features include:

    • Fully diamond-textured grip for wet, oily, and high-fat environments

    • Ultra-low protein latex to help minimise allergy risk

    • AQL 1.5 quality standard for reliable protection and reduced glove defects

    • 14 mil fingers for improved flexibility, tactility and precision

    • 20 mil palm thickness for durability and puncture resistance

The new Eagle 14-20 joins Eagle Protect’s other latex glove range, offering a cost-effective and modern option for users seeking enhanced grip, durability, and operational convenience.

If you're reviewing your glove program to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency, request a sample and see the difference for yourself.
